DESCRIPTION:

 

12mo (13.5 cm.), 2 of 3 Volumes. Each volume has an individual title page, dated 1659

and 1661, respectively [Volume 1 not present dated 1658]. 356, [12], 465, [3]; 365,

[3]; 432. 

First edition edited by Heinsius. Bound in vellum with yapp edges. Speckled  fore-edge. 

Leather label on each spine with author, title, and volume number,  decorative border and decorations. 

Decorated front and end-pieces and woodcut  initials.

Volume II contains Metamorphoses, pp.356, and  Not æ by Heinsius, pp.465. Volume III contains 

Fasti, Tristia, Pontic æ Epistolæ, and  Ibis, pp. 365, and Not æ by Heinsius, pp. 436.

 

CONDITION:

Good condition. Volume 2 spine label chipped and torn at two corners affecting some letters, front board with spiral scratch. Volume 3 headband detached from text but not at edges.  Bindings tight on both volumes. Both volumes with small stains, scratches, and indents. Pastedowns on both volumes with rips and tears. Both volumes with some ink stains, inked notes, and previous ownership signature. Some tears on top of pages, text not affected.
